Ethiopia trip - Day 1

Addis was very much full on, very few tourists here and everyone wants to be your 'friend'. The hotel receptionist asked if I could invest in her sister's cosmetics buisness, the waiter had a side hustle with black market dollar exchange and the bell boy said he could show me where to get a happy ending down the road. Opting for one of those options (double the rate for dollars on the black market) I was able to swell my pockets.


Raw meat (usually beef) is considered a delicious delicacy in Ethiopia. Many restaurants have a butcher on site where you can order your choice of cut. I've avoided the raw stuff so far!

Ordering with an Amharic menu can be a risk so I usually point at someone else's plate - Tibs (sizzling beef) and Goat soup in the featured photo..
